(Project ongoing)
Over the years, I’ve self-recorded dozens of hours of music, much of which has remained unheard or dormant, or only briefly surfaced through a short-lived album on my Bandcamp that was available for two years before I took it down entirely.
Recently, I’ve been revisiting those audio archives while simultaneously sourcing public-domain 8mm and 16mm footage. The result is the series of videos presented here on my website.
These nearly three-year-old compositions are finding new life by tracking alongside aged, eroded, compressed, and digitized rolls of film.
The recordings are written and produced by me alone. At the time of their creation, I had no concept of audio engineering, mixing, or mastering. For the most part, everything was recorded with 1 to 2 microphones, a DI box, and no mixing board. While they are not the most pristine recordings, re-mastering the tracks to the best of my abilities has become part of the project in it’s own right.
NOTE: People, Places, 1960s is actually scored by a track from EP.1, an active release available on my Bandcamp. In this way, the video differs from the others, but the rules here are loose, and the track itself was, in fact, the inspiration for undertaking this project in full.
